Nov 24, 2008.  A quick personal note for those who know me personally and knew my beloved wolf dogs Isis & Ra.  Both of them died in the fall of 2008.  Poor Isis was (we think) hit by a semi on October 13th and 36 days later on Nov 19th a drunken asshole neighbor shot Ra and he died instantly.  He was shot in the butt and it travelled into his abdomen.  He was found just on our side of the property line the next morning. We confronted the neighbor who admitted he shot him and said he didn't mean to kill him. We called the police, they said that pets, in WA state are only considered property and the most they could charge him with, if he confessed, would be vandalization.  Unbelievable.  My beloved boy gone and the guy who shot him in the back goes free?  Ra was so depressed about Isis death that he hadn't run since her death and wouldn't leave my side, it was the first night he seemed to want to stay outside.  Because he was so depressed Lee contacted a wolf rescue organization and signed us up to foster 3 wolves, they arrived the Monday before Ra died. At the same time Lee had decided to get a white wolf pup when he turned 5 weeks old.  So, it turns out we now have 4 wolves and a hound dog but they can never replace Isis and Ra who made me whole and were my whole life for a while.  You can see their pictures at the links below if you are interested. I don't have pictures of the new wolf-dogs up yet, I'm still grieving too much.   Ra's website - http://www.dogster.com/dogs/806655       Isis' website -  http://www.dogster.com/dogs/806664

This site chronicles the real life bondage kink of Maria Shadoes starting from about 2001 where she was a bottom only and bottomed to Lew Rubens in hundreds, if not thousands of ties. Maria started tying others herself in about 2003 but still preferred to be IN the ropes rather than rigging others. Starting in 2005 her emphasis shifted to tying others - and then tying others and adding herself into the tie with them.  In 2007 & 2008 her bondage attitudes have finally balanced out with the addition of Lee Chris into her life.  Lee tops her (and controls ALL topping of Maria) and gives her bondage fixes while doing an amazing job as the site photographer when she ties others.  Ahhhh  - a balanced life for a rope slut finally!

My bondage fantasies started young.  Very young.  I was one of those little kids (5 years old) whose parents drag them to the doctor claiming something is wrong because they are touching their genitals all the time.  They actually have a name for this now, it’s called ‘Early Gratification Syndrome’ if you can believe it.  Young girls masturbating simply because it feels good.  Mine always involved fantasies of being bound and/or ‘forced’ to touch myself with NO exposure to bondage except perhaps being bundled in my swaddling blankets too tightly as an infant.  Along the way to maturity I played with every household item trying to tie myself up, generally while masturbating. I do remember getting caught by my mom and her giving me 'that talk' - you know the one "It is completely normal to touch yourself there honey but only when you are absolutely certain you are alone and wont be disturbed, it's not something you do with others or talk about with friends..." When I first realized that there was a whole community of BDSM people in the  world and I wasn't’t alone in this (at age 24) I researched a ton before going to my first BDSM play party and because it seemed to be some kind of rule that if I liked bondage I also had to like pain I’ve tried most forms of BDSM play over the years with various levels of satisfaction and enjoyment.  My play even included being with a bullwhip expert (Rooster) for a couple of years and getting bullwhipped and striped nicely every weekend. I tried to pursue my bondage drive while I was doing the rest of the BDSM play but with very limited success. Someone who didn't know what they were doing tried to suspend me to please me because I wanted to do it sooooooooooo badly.  It didn't work, I couldn't breathe and I couldn't stay in it for very long and was miserable while I was in it.  I concluded from that experience that for some reason I was just physically unable to be suspended.  I was very disappointed in myself but a part of me just KNEW that I should be able to do it - after all, I LOVE heights, I LOVE swinging and spinning and I LOVE bondage. 

It wasn't until I hooked up with Lew Rubens in 2000... as totally unplanned and inconvenient as our mutual attraction was at the time - I finally got what I truly craved – good bondage and lots of it from a wonderful man who shared my life for a time which left us both enriched for the time we spent together.  For me good bondage is very wrapped up in my sexuality and rope is a huge turn-on. (not JUST rope - many bondage mediums).   For the longest time I denied my Top tendencies, even though everyone said I had super strong Toppy tendencies.  It’s been only the last 6 years that I’ve really been letting my Toppy side come out and play.

If I have to label myself I'd say I'm a switch with a sexual lean towards the bottom and a creative lean towards the Top.   I've NEVER been a submissive, when I was a bottom I said I was a "SAM" Smart Assed Masochist. Now - I only bottom to Lee and limit my Topping to women. Although, with Lee's approval I do tie the occasional guy.

    Several years of playing both Top and bottom roles for hundreds of internet sites and movies plus traveling around teaching with Lew Rubens for about 5 years, and now for a few years on my own has given me a lot of experience and hours on both sides of the rope.  I am now very proficient at my own unique bondage techniques and most 'western' bondage from beginning rope handling to suspension and predicament bondage.  My current site is www.boundtoloveit.com and the site that Lew and I started together and that I still webmaster is www.boundndetermined.com.  Check it out if you are into bound women! I didn’t want to be a clone of Lew so I strained my brain to the max and developed a very unique style of bondage that I call ‘Endless Bondage’.  The name reflects the fact that there are no rope ends.  I use loops of ropes with elaborate knots where ends would normally be.  I use this style 95% of the time in my own play but I still teach the more traditional bondage with rope ends. It is now May 2008 and I've finally decided to start teaching "Endless Bondage" to those who want to learn a new, unique style.  I expect to start making some how-to videos very soon.

 

     Most recently I’ve really gotten into tying couples together in very intimate ways and then, if we’re all feeling it, and Lee gives me the go ahead then tying myself to them in various ways.  I love watching and being a part of them (and often myself) discovering the boundaries and wonders of their bondage and some of it is pure art to behold as well.  I’m also exploring using knotting techniques for weaves and fancy rope work more and more often. As well as making clothing and accessories out of rope. I've really been wanting to do double suspensions with others and I've been working with a friend on it - the logistics are tough because they have to be almost fully tied before I can go up and then we want time for our guys to work us over so I'm learning a lot as I work on those routines. I'm sure you'll see some of those if you see me at the Wet Spot or at an event.

 

     ’ve been teaching and performing worldwide for about 6 years now. I’m trying to make my rigging and self-suspension performances more burlesque or more ‘European’ in flavor but it doesn’t come that naturally to me. Expect my shows to be far less formal than normally seen in Europe. I truly like to have fun and to have my bondage victims enjoy themselves as well. I hope you’ll enjoy the realism and bear with me as I try to learn to be more flamboyant. This is especially true for the self suspensions – you’d be surprised how hard it can be to look sexy, dancy and graceful while hauling yourself up and binding your own hands AFTER you've been defying gravity with your abs and one hand for 15 minutes already. . One thing I can promise – it will never be boring!

 

     Sexually speaking I LO V E bottoming.  These days I'm awfully lucky to get to spend equal times on both ends of the rope.  Lee is a natural Dom and he's learning rapidly to tie me up and keep it interesting for me to say the least.  While I was with Lew I was unspeakably lucky to get to spend lots of time bound - and you'll see a lot of that on my website's, there are probably 100 galleries not currently posted of me tied by Lew Rubens. However, because I loved being in the ropes so much I didn't do as Lew urged and do as much rigging as I should have in those first couple of years. Hindsight is so 20/20. One of my favorite things to do with my partner is to lay in bed at night and 'practice' rope theory and try new ideas and both Lew and Lee seem to enjoy that as well.  I can't tell you how many new ideas have been born that way. I've long since corrected the amount of tying I do of course, with playmates and models getting tied up frequently. There are a number of galleries that have been and will be posted here and that are 'in the can' and I hope you will be favorably impressed with my unique rigging style and that you’ll be a part of my growth as a rigger and international rigger & performer.

You may still think of me, Maria Shadoes, as Lew Rubens' partner. I'm still his biggest fan and this site is chalk full of his rigging but our relationship changed at the end of 2005 and this site was born on April 17, 2006.  I'm with a new guy now personally and he's taken over the photography and even some rigging on the site lately.  His name is Lee Chris and he's fantastic.

I started this site because when Lew and I decided to go our separate ways the way it worked out was that he got the site we built together and I got the pictures we did together. Lew and I are back doing projects together including the site we started together www.boundndetermined.com but I'm glad that I built this site as it has a lot of unique material and it's a great creative outlet for me. It would have been shameful to NOT have a website celebrating this amazing rope work Not to mention - I have two HUGE doggies to feed and rent to pay so I'm hoping this site will help me do that. Lew doesn't officially have anything to do with this website except to graciously allow me to use his image and he's still a guest rigger here frequently. There are some things that no one can do like Lew and I together - and that includes either of us trying to do complicated bondage scenarios with other partners... and yet I'd say we both DO manage to pull off some amazing things with the new people in our lives.

I partnered up with Ian Gold to build this site. He is my favorite, versatile photographer and he has taken Most of the photo's that you'll see posted before Feb. 07. . If they are BAD pictures - well then, I probably snapped them myself or had some other bystander do it. The great, earlier stuff is all Ian Gold and most of the great content posted after Feb. 07 is either archive stuff done by many different photographers or current galleries with photos taken by Lee Chris.

I've chosen to start this site out leaning towards posting the galleries in chronological order. It is not completely chronological but the opening of the site features a lot of the early stuff that I did with Lew and Ian and various models. Like us, the content just keeps getting better as we all improved and got better equipment. I assure you that will continue ad finitum. Since about Feb. 07 i dropped the chronological order and now happily mix very fresh shoots in with galleries shot a few years ago - many of which have never been posted anywhere, or, in some cases, were only posted for a short time in a small format. 

When I started the site I was still posting some galleries in 600x800px format, which is a pity as that size no longer is sufficient with today's screen resolutions.  Now all posts are at least 800x1200 with many even larger.  At this point I do not have each photo open in it's own page anymore because that method eats up so much bandwidth that the cost of having my site skyrocketed.  I also don't offer the ability to check the thumbnails that you'd like and d/l them as zip files. I hope to get that going soon but in the meantime IE, Firefox, Flock and most other browsers have plug-ins (add-ons) that you can install for FREE that will allow you to simply highlight all the thumbnails of the images that you'd like to download and it will let your browser download the photo's you chose and even zip them in the case of some programs.  Simply do a google search for "your browser download assistant plug in" to find some choices.
